Team

Guano's led by Paul Locker. Paul assembles a tailored team for each naming initiative, casting for expertise, talent, and chemistry. (Not a random analogy: Locker was an entertainment exec back in the day.)

Bio

Naming’s where Paul Locker's work in brand strategy and IP law converge.

Paul collaborated on brand strategy with brand development consultancy Intersection Studio in service to such clients as ArtCenter College of Design. He also teamed to lead client workshops and engagements for Intersection, including with for-profit City National Bank and non-profit USC.

Paul’s been chief legal officer for two IP-driven companies. He managed the global “EINSTEIN” trademark portfolio and licensed IP rights on behalf of the estates of Steve McQueen and the Marx Brothers. He headed Business & Legal Affairs for an international filmed entertainment company after serving as in-house counsel with 20th Century Fox.

Deepening his naming practice, Paul explores meaning and form sculpting and designing furniture. He sculpts in stone, clay, and assemblage -- subtractive, additive, and synthetic mediums close kin to core methodologies he applies naming. Less highfalutin, Paul recently designed and fabricated a rolling coffee table that efficiently (and he thinks winsomely) nests his vinyl.

An easy collaborator, Paul especially relishes riffing with others during ideation. Ever curious, he believes good questions are  magic. He's ever alert for subtext -- and chocolate.

Paul earned a JD from Harvard, an MBA from USC, and a BA from Columbia. He’s also completed product and graphic design studio course work at ArtCenter, and was an IBM Fellow of the Corporate Design Foundation.
